There is a way to perform healing that is indistinguishable from performing.
You can wake up at 5 a.m., journal for 30 minutes, drink the green thing, post the affirmation, sit in the breathwork class — and still be performing.
You can read every book, take every course, recite every framework — and still be performing.
The performance is harder to spot when it wears wellness clothes. But it is the same performance. It is still being for someone else. It is still curating a version of you that hopes to be approved of.
Becoming is something else.
Becoming is quieter. It does not have a content schedule. It does not need to be seen to count. It sometimes looks like saying no to the practice you were told would change your life. It sometimes looks like sitting in the unedited version of you and not handing the camera to anyone.
Becoming does not perform. Becoming does not chase. Becoming does not require an audience.
Performing wants to be seen. Becoming wants to be true.
Both are work. But only one of them is yours.
